Lessons Learned: Affecting Health Care
Substance abuse is a pervasive problem in communities across the nation. Emergency rooms are filled with patients who have medical problems as the result of alcohol or drug addictions. In the face of shrinking funds and a rapidly changing health care environment, how can communities develop comprehensive programs that will safeguard residents and at the same time prove to be cost-effective? This pamphlet gives a brief overview of the different problems facing four communities and a look at the programs these communities have integrated into their existing health care systems.
