Funding Tips & Trends
The Bush administration this week unveiled Grants.gov, billed as a "one-stop shopping" resource for getting information and applying for all federal grants. The initiative is part of Bush's Electronic Government initiative. "For the first time, there will be a single, government-wide source for information about grant programs across the federal government," said Tommy Thompson, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. "By putting relevant information in one place, we're helping to level the playing field for organizations less familiar with federal grant programs so that they too can identify and apply for appropriate grants."
The site will have information on more than 800 grant programs from 26 federal agencies, representing total annual awards of more than $360 billion. About half of all federal grants are awarded by HHS. Site visitors will be able to search for, download, complete, and submit federal grant applications.
