Treating Opiate Dependence in Rural Communities: A Guide for Developing Community Resources
This report summarizes the implementation of a project designed to develop new resources for the treatment of opiate dependence in rural Oregon. The project introduced buprenorphine as a new tool available to primary care physicians, and teamed with local drug treatment providers, nurse practitioners and pharmacists to enhance access to science-based treatment in areas where medication-assisted treatment had not been previously available.
