Patterns of Club Drug Use in the U.S., 2004
Club drugs such as MDMA, MDA, GHB, ketamine, LSD, methamphetamine, and Rohypnol were initially characterized as substances used at raves and dance parties. Often there was little recognition that each of these drugs has very different pharmacological, psychological, and physiological properties.
As more data becomes available, it is clearer that there are important differences in the characteristics of people who use each of these drugs and the patterns of their use. Prevention and treatment efforts need to take these differences into account.
