Improved Care for Teens in Trouble with Drugs, Alcohol and Crime
Although successful strategies exist for treating substance use disorders in adults, until recently, there has been much less focus on the needs, dynamics, and strategies that work with young people. Recent studies on adolescent brain developement have shown that children and teens with substance abuse problems need treatment tailored to their age group.
In the past few years, research has been conducted on how to treat this age group, and evidence-based practices have been recommended. This report addresses these new treatment methods and applies them to a specific group of youth: those in trouble with the law.
