Harm Reduction Approaches to Injecting Drug Use
In public health, harm reduction describes the concept of aiming to prevent or reduce negative health consequences associated with certain behaviors. In relation to drug injecting, harm reduction components of comprehensive interventions aim to prevent HIV transmission that occurs through sharing of non-sterile injection equipment and drug preparations.
This resource provides information on why harm reduction is important, how it is done, the human resources, infrastructure and supplies needed, and costs. It also provides a list of available references.
