This series of three web-assisted audioconferences will discuss recovery-based care for addiction. These sessions are part of a project to educate state legislators and legislative staff about recovery-based care for addiction. 

This project is a collaborative effort of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD), the State Associations of Addiction Services (SAAS), and Faces & Voices of Recovery (Faces & Voices). The project is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration under the Partners for Recovery Initiative through a contract with Abt Associates Incorporated.

Recovery-Based Care for Addiction:  Federal and State Financing

This web-assisted audioconference will provide an overview of a recovery-based care approach, including federal and state financing of that care. Dr. Clark will provide an overview of a recovery-based approach, including federal financing available to states. Senator Harp will discuss the state financing of recovery-based care in the state of Connecticut.

Dr. Evans will discuss his experience leading the city of Philadelphia's transformation to a recovery-based approach. Ms. Haberle will discuss PRO-ACT's involvement in the city of Philadelphia's transformation to a recovery-based approach, PRO-ACT's experience providing peer recovery support services out of a recovery community center, and PRO-ACT's experience doing policy work.

Recovery-Based Care for Addiction:  Policy Changes and Cost Data

This web-assisted audioconference will explore policy changes necessary to provide recovery-based care. It will also explore cost data demonstrating the cost-effectiveness of, and the cost savings resulting from, a recovery-based care approach. Ms. Wheeler will discuss the policy changes that the state of Oregon implemented in order to provide recovery-based care. Mr. DiLeo will discuss the cost data that the state of Connecticut has generated from its recovery-based approach.
