Research Summary

Methamphetamine addicts outnumber casual users of the drug nearly two to one, according to researchers from Australia's National Drug and Alcohol Research Center.

The Australian Associated Press reported Oct. 26 that NDARC, in the country's first major study of methamphetamine use, said that two-thirds of meth users are dependent on the drug. Use of meth has been skyrocketing in Australia since 2000.

The full research report, conducted at the University of New South Wales and funded by the National Drug Law Enforcement Research Fund, will be released later this week.
