Research Summary

More people drink beer in Milwaukee than in any other U.S. city, according to a study by Scarborough Research.

The Buffalo Business Journal reported July 11 that 54 percent of Milwaukee residents said that they had consumed beer in the past month, followed by 53 percent of Minneapolis/St. Paul residents, and 51 percent of Denver residents. Four cities tied for fourth place with 50 percent of residents saying they drank beer: Buffalo, Albany, Boston, and St. Louis.

In contrast, just 23 percent of Salt Lake City residents said they drank beer.

The study also found that 51 percent of beer consumers are between the ages of 21 and 34, and tend to be more affluent than other consumers. Researchers only contacted residents ages 21 or older for the survey.
