News Summary

The ABC, CBS and Fox affiliates in New York have rejected ads seeking public support for a medical-marijuana bill, the New York Daily News reported Sept. 17.

The ads from the Marijuana Policy Project call on voters to urge lawmakers to support the measure sponsored by Assemblyman Richard Gottfried and Sen. Thomas Duane. They feature testimonials from patients who have used marijuana to ease chronic pain.

The state Assembly has passed the bill but it has stalled in the Senate.

The ads have run on WNBC-TV and on cable.

tough to comprehend their rationale. Folks place ads all the time for all kinds of causes - and while some might consider medical mj the devil's tool and damnable, we are talking about a bill that has passed the NY State Assembly and is before the Senate. How intolerably radical could it be? Tough to understand - and frightening.

I'm sure there is enough mouth to mouth, bong to bong, joint to joint, conversation, I don't think our kids need the exposure.

More proof that the media is SO not liberal. Interfering with those who need marijuana to ease chronic pain is cruel.

thats republican thinking for you, they still think they can win the war on all drugs when the legal pills kill more than the street drugs. 75% want to stop the war against pot people, 10% dont really care, and 15% are republican terrorist hell bent for leather to bring harm to all users medical or not. they dont respect state rights, and giving 410 mil to mexico and have 4500 killed do to it , is state sponsored terrorism

ABC and CBS are not known as bastions of Republican values. Also the Cartels will not stop just because a drug is legalized they will just undercut the price. The fog of marijuana smoking stops critical thinking.

The problem medical marijuana faces is its limited exposure, and banning these ads is simply contributing to that problem. The outdated legislation (Controlled Substances Act of 1970) still holds marijuana captive in its Schedule I rating - calling it HIGHLY addictive with ZERO medicinal value - who are they kidding? 13 state-governments say that there is in fact medical value, for several different illnesses. The physical dependencies created from alcohol abuse and pharmaceutical pills are far greater than any marijuana habit. when will the madness end? Legalize it.
