News Summary

Legislation to ban smoking in North Carolina restaurants and bars has passed the state House of Representatives, the Associated Press reported May 13.

With the cost of smoking to the individual and society, the added cost of second hand smoke to America and the cost of third hand smoke to the other family members especially infants, we can not affored not to ban it in public places.

Hallelujah!!!!! Now if Kentucky would just get a clue!! (and the rest of the country). If the entire US of A would go smoke free, then there would be No more quibbling over who allows smoking and who doesn't. No whining about whose going to "lose" money because they asked folks to go 20 minutes without smoking while they eat or do business!!!(no study every demonstrates revenue loss anyway) Common sense says every public building and venue should have clean air!!! GO AMERICA!!!!

Wow, I am impressed! Kudos to South Carolina, glad you are finally standing up for clean air and healthy bodies. Congratulations! You can't believe what a difference it makes, how nice it feels to be able to go into a bar and restaurant and not smell like smoke afterwards. In response to Melissa, you are right, Maine restaurants did not see any decreases in revenue, as a matter of fact, many saw increases in revenue.

I think it is crazy TOBACCO in NC fed everyone growing up! And if it is legal to smoke cigerettes, then you should be able to smoke where you want to. Leave it up to the owners of the establishment and then if patrons do not want to go there because smoking is allowed, then they don't go!!!!!
