News Summary

A state-sponsored 12-page insert addressing underage drinking was included in most daily newspapers in Hawaii this week, Editor and Publisher reported Sept. 24.

The insert was provided by the Hawaii Partnership to Prevent Underage Drinking as part of a state-wide prevention campaign led by the lieutenant governor. The insert stressed the connection between early drinking and the risk for future addiction and described the effects of alcohol consumption on the brain.

The campaign also will include animated TV ads and radio pieces created by local high-school students.
