News Summary

California's first state-sponsored TV campaign focusing on methamphetamine use is hitting the airwaves this week, the Palm Springs Desert Sun reported Jan. 22.

The public-service ads are a result of a $10-million partnership between the state Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Ads produced in English and Spanish urge viewers to avoid meth and seek treatment. TV, radio and print ads, as well as community outreach programs, are all part of the campaign.

More California residents seek treatment for meth addiction than any other drug problem. The ad campaign will target women of childbearing age, gay men, and teens.
