ONDCP Releases Prescription Tracking Strategy July 20, 2006
News Summary
The first Synthetic Drug Control Strategy was released in June by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) to reduce methamphetamine use and prescription drug misuse by 15 percent by 2008, reported CESAR FAX on July 17.
The ONDCP also hopes to reduce the number of meth labs by 25 percent.
State and local partners are 'crucial,' the ONDCP says, in carrying out its 10-point plan.
The strategy calls for more funding, better treatment availability, increased data collection, sharing of effective strategies and expansion of existing programs.
