News Summary

Homeowners who allow youths under age 21 to possess alcohol on their property face jail time and /or fines up to $500 under a new Connecticut law, WTNH-TV reported Oct. 1.

The law that goes into effect this week closes a loophole that previously left police powerless to stop adults from hosting house parties for underage youth where alcohol was served.

Surveys found that more than 60 percent of teens said they had consumed alcohol at house parties, while 75 percent of high-school students said they got alcohol at home, with parental permission or not.
