Cigarette Firm Said Poised to Enter Smokeless Market

A leading Wall Street tobacco analyst expects cigarette company Reynolds American Inc. to introduce a smokeless-tobacco product this month, The Business Journal reported Jan. 31.

Analyst Bonnie Herzog said that Reynolds officials have told her that the company plans to introduce a chewing tobacco or similar product. Herzog said that the decision could be a financial boost for Reynolds and a challenge for UST Inc., the nation's leading maker of smokeless-tobacco products.
