News Summary

A new Dutch TV show will feature episodes where the host takes heroin and LSD live on the air, Fox News reported Sept. 21.

The creators of the show, titled "Swallow and Shoot Up," say their intent is to communicate with young audiences. During the first episode on Oct. 10, host Filemon Wesserlink plans to take heroin (in pill form) while guests discuss drug use and abuse.

"It's not our intention to create an outcry," said Ingrid Timmer, a spokesperson for the show. "We just want to talk about subjects that are part of young people's lives."

Wesserlink also plans to go on a drinking binge and try LSD.

Using heroin and LSD is illegal in the Netherlands, despite the nation's comparatively liberal drug policies.

BNN, the company producing the show, has come under fire in the past for an explicit program on sex entitled "This Is How You Screw."
