Teen Action Group to Restore Local Park April 3, 2006
Communities in Action Youth on a Mission of Quintette, Florida is working to restore Quintette Community Park to a safe and drug-free space for children and teens, the Pensacola News Journal reported on April 2.
About 20 young people, ages 11 to 17, formed Youth on a Mission to put a stop to the illegal activity that has recently invaded the park.
With the help of the Community Drug and Alcohol Council's Project Boost Quintette, the group kicked off their campaign at the park with a rally and a softball game on Saturday, April 1.
About 500 community members joined in the activities, including signing pledges to report any crime or suspicious activity in the neighborhood.
"Our goal is to change the environment here," said Stephanie Stephens, project director. "We think this is really going to turn the community back around."
