Prevention groups in Calhoun County, Michigan placed bright orange warning labels on alcoholic beverages to raise awareness about the consequences of buying alcohol for underage youth, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported on June 20.

Project Sticker Shock, sponsored by the Substance Abuse Council's Underage Drinking Prevention Forum, notified shoppers that penalties for providing alcohol to minors could include up to $1000 in fines, up to 60 days in jail and community service.

The Substance Abuse Council launched this 'call to action' in 24 stores during prom and graduation season in order to reduce underage access to alcohol.
