Fellowship Supports Addiction Treatment in Bermuda July 14, 2006
Communities in Action The first Duperrealt Fellowship, a leadership training program for alcohol and drug use treatment and prevention professionals in Bermuda, was awarded to educator Christine Chiappa, the Royal Gazette reported on July 13.
As recipient of the scholarship, Chiappa will study at the Hazelden treatment facility in Minnesota starting this fall, before returning to Bermuda to work in substance use treatment for at least two years.
Chiappa, who holds a master's degree in education from the University of Exeter in England, plans to specialize in the treatment of adolescents.
The fellowship was established by Brian Duperreault, former executive chairman of ACE Limited, to strengthen educational opportunities for human service professionals and increase the quality of care. The ACE Foundation matched a donation from the Duperreault Family.
