Carroll County Demand Treatment Surveys Employers November 21, 2003
Communities in Action Carroll County Demand Treatment! has joined forces with United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM) on Project Lift, a community initiative to increase awareness and support for improving the substance use disorders treatment system in that area.To start, the Project Lift team is surveying Carroll County businesses in preparation for creating seminars for human resource professionals. The survey asks whether companies have published workplace substance use policies or employee assistance programs, and has a series of questions graded on a "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree" scale:
- Most managers/supervisors within our company are knowledgeable about the problem of substance abuse in our community and the impact it has on productivity.
- Most managers/supervisors within our company are knowledgeable about the signs and symptoms of substance abuse.
- Most managers/supervisors know how and when to respond when faced with an employee who is suspected of substance abuse.
- Most managers/supervisors know where to turn to help someone with a substance abuse problem.
- Our HR department is confident in evaluating insurance plans and EAPs in light of our policy to encourage substance abuse treatment.
Volunteers from local businesses, government, treatment providers, human service providers, the health department and others comprise the Carroll County Project Lift committee.
