Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grants totaling $24.4 million were awarded to 199 community coalitions nationally late last month, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) announced. The grants all went to new DFC grantees chosen from a pool of 419 applicants.

Also, 14 grants totaling about $1 million were made under the DFC Support Mentoring Program, which helps existing grantees become self-supporting.

In July, ONDCP awarded continuation grants to 568 community coalitions under the DFC -- an additional $55 million in funding.
