The recent sale of Anheuser-Busch to Belgian brewing company InBev has some nonprofit organizations in the St. Louis area concerned for their funding, Philanthropy News Digest reported July 16.

Many organizations in the area have relied heavily on large donations from Anheuser-Busch. Leaders are concerned that InBev will not see the importance of giving to these groups, since in Europe nonprofits are largely subsidized by the government.

Anheuser-Busch donated $13 million to local charities and nonprofit groups in 2007.
