RWJF Funds Tobacco Policy Change Projects February 9, 2007
Funding Tips & Trends
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has awarded $1.9 million in grants to prevent tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke under its Tobacco Policy Change program.
The grants were awarded to programs in 21 communities nationally with populations considered especially vulnerable to tobacco-use risks. Funding will support advocacy, communications and outreach projects, including establishing secondhand-smoking laws in Native American communities, increasing the tobacco tax in Florida, and restricting tobacco ads, giveaways, and use at rodeos.
The $12 million Tobacco Policy Change program has now awarded three rounds of grants. Awards range from $75,000 to $150,000.
