An addition treatment center for teens will be the beneficiary of a special holiday shopping event sponsored by Portland, Maine merchants, Maine Today reported Nov. 11.

A portion of Dec. 2 sales at participating stores in downtown Portland will be donated to Day One, a nonprofit addiction treatment, prevention, intervention, and aftercare program for youth. Day One also provides parent support services, school-based peer-to-peer services, and transitional housing.

Portland's Charity Day is part of the downtown Light Up Your Holidays event, founded in 2000. A list of participating companies can be found online.
