The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded 23 grants totaling $45 million for treating homeless individuals for alcohol and other drug addictions. Grants are for up to $400,000 each, with first-year funding totaling $9 million.

Another $4 million in grants also were awarded to current grantees to help chronically homeless clients get access to addiction and mental-health services, housing, case-management, and other recovery-oriented services.

The Treatment for Homeless grants are for a five-year period. They can be used to expand or strengthen treatment services.

For a complete list of grantees, see the grant announcement online.
