Funding Tips & Trends

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced funding for 17 programs in 11 states to fight club-drug abuse. The $23 million expenditure is spread over five years, with $4,970,058 spent in the first year across the various programs.

The grant focus is on the development of prevention and intervention programs through schools, local health departments, and other community-based organizations. For instance, the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction will receive $1,461,760 over five years to initiate two prevention programs through local Boys and Girls Clubs.

Other states receiving funding include California, Maryland, Hawaii, Florida, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Texas. For a complete list of funding and grantees, visit the SAMHSA website.
