Funding Tips & Trends

A national advocacy campaign led by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Inc. (NCADD) to educate the public on alcohol and other drug abuse problems and remove the many stigmas surrounding those conditions has gathered $325,000 in initial funding.

NCADD leads a nationwide coalition of 58 groups that formed at the second Providence Summit on Addiction in May. Public and private donations have accounted for the first wave of funding, coming from organizations such as the Hanley Family Foundation, which raised $100,000 for the campaign, and $25,000 from the president of Bencorp, Roger Bensinger.

Burston-Marstellar, a public relations firm, has signed on to handle the campaign, and will move forward the next six months to develop a business plan.
