Funding Tips & Trends

The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee has reduced President Bush's request for $80 million to fund the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) program next year, according to Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA).

The House's version of the Transportation and Treasury Appropriations bill for FY 2005 provides $70 million for the program, the same amount appropriated for the program last year.

CADCA says the funding level is insufficient. The group is urging individuals to contact their congressional delegation and request that they support the $80 million in funding for DFC as proposed by Bush.

The U.S. Senate has yet to act on the bill.
