Thirteen grants were made nationwide by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to help prevent alcohol and other drug abuse among youths entering the work force.

The grant sets aside $4 million over two years to enable prevention education for 16- to 20-year-olds. The average individual grant size is $150,000 a year for each of the two years of the Phase 1 program. Grantees eligible for Phase 2 of the grant may receive as much $500,000 a year for the next three.
