The James Irvine Foundation has provided funding to the Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment for a project that focuses on education and foster care.The $345,000 grant, awarded under the foundation's civic-affairs program area, will support the coalition's efforts to increase the number of Los Angeles area youth going on to college and to cut the number of children entering the foster-care system.
The foundation also made awards in the areas of arts and culture; children, youth, and families; citizenship; higher education; and sustainable development.
