Researchers working to develop medications to treat marijuana-related disorders may apply for $3 million in funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
The Medications Development for Cannabis-Related Disorders grants will be made under the R01 research-grants protocol. Approximately six grants of up to $500,000 will be awarded.
The program will "support research studies that focus on the identification, and preclinical and clinical evaluation, of medications that can be safe and effective for the treatment of cannabis-use and -induced disorders, as well as their medical and psychiatric consequences," according to NIDA.
Awards will also be made under the R21 funding mechanism.
