Funding Opportunity

Applications are now being accepted under the NIH's R01 grant mechanism for international research collaborations focused on addressing the relationship between drug use and HIV/AIDS.

"This program fosters research related to biomedical and clinical science, epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS associated with drug use," according to the grant announcement, which added that the National Institute on Drug Abuse is seeking collaborations "with a regional geographic focus that take advantage of populations, resources, talent, or environmental/contextual conditions outside the U.S. that offer special opportunities to advance scientific knowledge."

Up to eight awards will be made, with individual grants capped at $350,000. A total of $2 million in grants is available.

Nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and others may apply. Application deadline is Nov. 18. For more details, see the full grant announcement online.
