States may now apply for funding under a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) program designed to reduce statewide rates of alcohol and other drug abuse.

The FY 2009 Partnerships for Success: State and Community Prevention Performance Grants are available to governors in states and territories that previously have received Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grants from SAMHSA.

Up to four grants of up to $2.3 million each will be awarded, for a term of up to five years.

Application deadline is May 27.
