The Marijuana Policy Project will award grants of up to $60,000 each to support efforts to legalize and regulate marijuana.

The money can be used to support ballot initiatives, grassroots organizing, marijuana research, revisions to the accepted definitions of marijuana abuse and dependence, and other activities.

The grants are open to nonprofit organizations and other groups. Application deadline is Sept. 1.
