Funding Opportunity

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is now accepting applications for its Campus Suicide Prevention grants for the 2009 fiscal year. The 21 grants will go toward improving mental and behavioral health services for students, such as depression and substance use, which may lead to suicide ideation or attempts.

The grants may be used in conjunction with college counseling centers, college and university psychological services centers, mental health centers, psychological training clinics, or evidence-based mental health and substance abuse programs.

Eligible applicants include both public and private institutions of higher learning. Awards may be up to $100,000 a year for up to 3 years for qualified grantees. The application deadline is November 25, 2008.
