Funding Opportunity

Nonprofits that provide needle-exchange or other drug-related harm-reduction services may apply for funding from the Comer Foundation.

Operating, programmatic, and staff-development funding is available. Single-year grants of $5,000 to $30,000 will be awarded. Only 501(c)3 nonprofits may apply.

Preference will be given to groups that are "grounded in harm-reduction principal and practice" and are actively developing community, financial, and local political support. "The Comer Foundation maintains no organization will be denied funding as a result of actual or perceived substance use, participation in drug treatment or recovery, or association with people involved in the same, by employees of the organization," the foundation noted.

Applications are due March 1, July 1, and Nov. 1 each year. For full details, see the grant announcement on the Comer Foundation website or contact Stephanie Comer, Manager, The Comer Foundation, c/o GCI, 939 W. North Avenue, Suite 850, Chicago, IL 60622.
