News story comments submitted by readers are generally reviewed by a staff moderator before they appear on the site. The following information will assist readers in getting the most out of the comments tool:
Comments Approval Policy and Process
- We approve or reject submitted comments based on the general guidelines below and in our Terms of Use. However, all user-contributed content is the sole responsibility of the person who provided it.
- We do our best to review submitted comments in a timely manner on weekdays, particularly in the morning. Comments submitted outside regular business hours, on weekends, and on holidays will generally be reviewed the next business day.
- We are unable to discuss individual comment moderation decisions or personally reply to each inquiry, but we welcome feedback e-mailed to editor@jointogether.org.
Guidelines for Submitting Comments
- Keep it clean, courteous, and on-topic. Comments are for constructive, coherent discussion of the above article, not general rants or manifestos.
- Observe the 250-word limit. Serial posts intended to circumvent it will generally be rejected.
- Do not post promotional or commercial links, personal information, or requests for assistance (get help).
- Proof your comments carefully and don't use ALL CAPS. Once submitted, comments cannot be edited by the author or by staff moderators.
We reserve the right to reject any comment based solely on our interpretation of these guidelines and the Terms of Use.
